The Description
The Loake Double Buckle Monk is a premium men’s shoe, handmade in England from dark brown burnished calf leather for a sophisticated and versatile finish. This timeless style features a refined twin-buckle design, offering a sleek alternative to traditional lace-up shoes, making it suitable for both formal occasions and smart-casual wear. Built with Goodyear welted construction, it ensures durability, comfort, and the option of resoling for years of use. Designed and engineered in Northamptonshire, it reflects Loake’s heritage of fine British shoemaking. A modern classic, the Double Buckle Monk combines elegance, craftsmanship, and lasting quality in one iconic style.
We recommend using a shoehorn to help maintain the shape, prevent creasing of the heel, and allow the foot to glide in with ease – keeping your shoes looking their best and feeling comfortable from the first wear.
Please note, these shoes come with a complementary pair of protective cloth bags.
The Last
Capital
One of our most versatile shoe lasts, Capital is used for several of our 1880 styles from formal shoes such as our ‘Aldwych’ toe cap Oxford to boots such as ‘Pimlico’ and ‘Hyde’. It is a medium width last with a slight chisel shape to the toe and runs true to size. Capital has been a popular choice with our customers since its introduction, currently nine styles are made on this last.

A collection of classic styles crafted from high-quality, calf leathers and featuring the famous Goodyear Welted construction. Reflecting the traditional heritage of Loake dating back to 1880, many of our hand-finished, luxurious styles in this collection have become icons in their own right.
All 1880 Classic styles are made in our Northamptonshire factory, located in the heart of England.
