The Description
Our ‘Hornbeam’ is a premium Calf Leather loafer, using the ‘College’ last shape, and is available in a ‘F’ fitting. ‘Hornbeam’ is made in our Northamptonshire factory in England and features Goodyear welted construction with fully leather soles that provide a high level of comfort, shape retention and added durability. With threads made from recycled bottles, premium leatherboard stiffeners made from veg-tanned recycled leathers, veg-tanned soles that use natural chrome-free tannins, and tanned linings that retain the soft and supple qualities of premium leather, while being kinder to the environment.
They are also designed to be fully repairable by the people that made them, to help prolong their lifespan, when the time comes.
We recommend using a shoehorn to help maintain the shape, prevent creasing of the heel, and allow the foot to glide in with ease – keeping your shoes looking their best and feeling comfortable from the first wear.
The Last
College
The College last is a classic loafer shape, specifically designed for slip-on men’s shoes. It features a standard-length toe with a gently pointed, rounded profile, creating a refined yet versatile silhouette. This last generally runs true to size; however, it is intentionally designed to fit snugly, as befits a traditional loafer style. The close fit ensures secure wear and a streamlined appearance, while maintaining comfort and flexibility. Ideal for smart-casual or formal occasions, the College last delivers dependable fit, timeless style, and Loake’s signature craftsmanship.

The Collection
1880 Classic
Loake 1880 represents the highest expression of Loake’s English shoemaking craft. Named after the year the company was founded, the collection is crafted in Kettering, Northamptonshire using traditional Goodyear welted construction, premium leathers and time-honoured shoemaking techniques.
Rooted in over a century of craftsmanship and still produced by the fifth generation of the Loake family, Loake 1880 combines enduring British heritage with refined contemporary design.
